Context

On 2026-08-13 at 14:27 Nicolas Renaud asked for a short paragraph describing the project's expected final result, so he could forward it to the director of Concordia's cinema department and ask to be connected with a member of the team whose research field aligns.

miadisabelle/Etuaptmumk-RSM#261 and the ep300-seven-fields-research-alignment-renaud-260815-… vessel answered whose field aligns from a compiled faculty roster — and flagged their own weakness in writing: "A faculty page lags a researcher by years… any name forwarded should be confirmed against that person's present output first." That correction was written as an action step and left unfinished.

Separately, the practice the proposal describes acquired a body. Miadi Chronicle Episode 083's landbase movement capture became three published packages on 2026-08-16 — @miadi/osc, @miadi/movement-conductor, @miadi/termux-motion — plus the Landbase Movement Studio prototype. The claims in the outreach text now have an instrument behind them, and neither had been checked against the fields they borrow from.

Two deep-research-foundations packets closed both openings. Eight parallel live-web research lanes plus a dedicated faculty-verification lane; 203 sources, 197 verified live. They are mirrored into this repo at foundations/ (with a drift-detectable manifest, jgwill/Miadi canonical) precisely because this is where the letter is written.

What the research found, stated plainly because it bears on text close to being sent:

"Structured as ceremony" is not defensible as written. It borrows Shawn Wilson's term for an earned, relationally accountable practice and applies it to a non-Indigenous team with no named partner, community consent, or Elder relationship — close to what Tuck & Yang name as settler moves to innocence. It currently sits at prototypes/artefacts/ep300-…/abstract-set-a.md:25.
"Landbase" is an occupied word. Land base is active Canadian Indigenous policy language — Additions to Reserve, Treaty Land Entitlement — meaning a First Nation's owned and controlled territory. Episode 083's own title uses it unglossed.
Nicolas Renaud's populated profile places him in First Peoples Studies (SCPA), not Cinema. This makes his offer to introduce chair Martin Lefebvre a favour across faculties — more generous than it read — and explains his requirement that a principal supervisor be full-time Film Production as information rather than a hurdle.
Marianna Marta Milhorat holds a live SSHRC project, Multispecies Sensory Filmmaking (2025– ). The ep300 alignment listed her as a second; the live evidence makes her a primary.
Luigi Allemano's McLaren lineage is his own prior work — he consulted on the NFB's Norman McLaren: Animated Musician (2014). That converts a rhetorical bridge into a citation.
For Jean-Claude Bustros and Erin Manning, no output dated 2023–2026 was found in this pass. Absence from a profile is not absence of work — it is a reason to check at the source before forwarding either name with a currency claim.
Erin Manning's chair title is Speculative Pragmatism, Art and Pedagogy; one research lane claimed otherwise and was overruled by two independent live checks.

Desired State

The outreach text says only what the research supports, in the register the recipients actually work in — and the two applications of that research, the packages and the prototype, are visibly the same body of work rather than three unrelated efforts.

That state exists when a reader arriving at this repo can trace one line from the grounding, to the letter it corrects, to the instrument that enacts it; when every claim the project has not earned is written down here by us, in our own words, with the specific rewording that would make it honest; and when no name goes in front of a department director without a same-week check at the source.

The letter was ready to describe a practice whose central words had never been checked against the traditions they borrow from, addressed to people whose current work had never been verified. The research does not make the project smaller — it makes the sentences survivable, and it turns an alignment computed from a roster into one grounded in what those researchers are actually doing this year.
