Why this folder exists

This folder holds the working material for preparing a respectful outreach path toward Nicolas Renaud, Program Director, First Peoples Studies, Concordia University. It began as a practical need — recover the right questions and prepare communication with him — but it also became a reusable pattern for IAIP: turn a foundations packet into a navigable outreach page with visible provenance, cautions, and relational accountability.

Verified/working profile from the scout packet:

  • Nicolas Renaud is framed here as a filmmaker / video artist / practitioner-scholar and Concordia First Peoples Studies program director.
  • His fit is not only administrative; the stronger bridge is arts-based epistemology: Indigenous cinema, visual sovereignty, media-making, and the question of how knowledge circulates through creative form.
  • The best communication stance is a hybrid branch: one grounded sentence about the creative/technical inquiry, then a focused question about Indigenous knowledge, technology, research pathways, and who the right contact might be.
  • Élise’s recruiter-facing direction remains important: admissions/logistics belong with Élise; program/research alignment questions can go to Renaud.

  1. Contact FAS Graduate Programs at FASgradprograms@concordia.ca about INDI and HUMA, especially whether the project belongs in an individualized master's/doctoral structure or the Humanities PhD/research-creation path.
  2. Contact Nicolas Renaud for fit and supervisory route-finding across First Peoples Studies, Indigenous cinema/media sovereignty, Innu community cinema autonomy, and relational AI/digital tools.

Verified detail to keep visible: the current public First Peoples Studies BA page lists the Major as 45 credits, while the issue #225 meeting report says 42 credits. The action is to verify, not to assume either source is complete.

The closest Chronicle relation found during this cleanup is:

  • Episode 028 — Outreach Forest Trunk Prelude: the actual outreach/portal trunk and walking-session audio/preproduction.
  • Episode 029 — The House Learns to Hear the PR: the PR/event-witnessing branch created from that trunk.

Because the user asked for the file among the later episodes, the reciprocal Chronicle note is placed in Episode 029, while explicitly naming Episode 028 as the parent trunk.

Handoff for tomorrow / Issue #225

The Élise meeting report is now anchored at GitHub issue #225 and has been folded into ELISE_MEETING_NEXT_STEPS_260602.md.

When processing future replies from FAS Graduate Programs or Nicolas:

  1. Preserve raw response provenance separately from cleaned synthesis.
  2. Update this file’s profile snapshot only with stable facts or clarified questions.
  3. Add a short companion note in Episode 029 if the response changes the PR/Chronicle lineage, or in Episode 028 if it changes the outreach trunk itself.
  4. Keep the relationship reciprocal: artifact folder points to Chronicle note; Chronicle note points back here and to issues/PR.
