Inquiry — what the rotation left open

Episode 328 documents what the 2026-08-14 rotations settled. This vessel holds what they opened, each question with the measurement that raised it.

1. One machine or two?

The MinoSteeringDay machine models one seat's day, yet rotating, the elder, and mia_architecture_seat are all arcs between seats. Does the seat lifecycle become a second machine (MinoSeatRotation) composing with the day machine, or a composite region inside it? Held for William — the answer decides what /chronicle and forgewright can render. (ROTATION-DESIGN-260814 §5.)

2. Does the rotation become a script?

Every step of the rotating state is deterministic and measurable — handoff gate, seat resolution, rename, minting, boot, instrument walk, delivery confirmation. Proposed home: /a/src/Miadi/scripts/mino-rotate.sh, beside mino-handoff.sh, because that is where two rules that had failed three times as prose became a check that runs. Prose has an expiry; the design document says so of itself.

3. The composite-boundary renderer defect

Stateloom edges crossing a composite boundary degrade into text labels (miadisabelle/Etuaptmumk-RSM#205), so an absent segment renders as severed by accident rather than by design. The rotation arc is a composite-boundary edge by definition. Until the renderer draws it, the diagram under-reports the very arc this episode exists to hold.

4. Who lands the canvas?

mino.smdf.json sat modified, validate-clean, and uncommitted at episode birth — by the rotation's own law it is the live seat's to land. The second rotation replaced the live seat the same afternoon; the commit is now the new seat's inheritance, and whether that inheritance was announced loudly enough is itself a test of the .mino/threads/ announce surface.

5. Where does the second rotation's day count land?

Day 21 rotated out the same afternoon it booted, and the successor's mission changed projects entirely (trading-platform intake). Does a seat that serves four hours carry a full day number, and does a project pivot reset the ladder? The ladder has been wrong out loud once already this week — day 20 called itself 21 all session.
