A ceremony-style checklist for entering creative sessions with collaborators. Inspired by Research Is Ceremony, this protocol provides structured practices ensuring intent-setting, agent briefing, narrative seeding, and closure reflection maintain relational accountability throughout production.

Pre-Production Ceremony (Before Capture)

Intent-Setting (5 minutes)

What relationship are we honoring through this work?
What knowledge seeks to emerge through this session?
Who/what are we accountable to in this process?

Agent Briefing (What Agents Need to Know)

Creative signature to preserve: Your storyteller perspective and aesthetic coherence
Relational protocols: Whose voices must be honored, what cannot be extracted
Quality boundaries: What gets rejected if violated (persona-coherence criteria)

Narrative Cluster Seeding (Core Themes)

What 3–5 core themes are we exploring today?
What visual metaphors or sonic environments anchor these themes?
What story arc might emerge from this material?

During Production (On-Set / In Session)

Observational Logging

Belt device recording: director intent, ambient context, relational moments
Visual capture: shot compositions, environmental conditions, unexpected witnesses
Note significant moments warranting ceremonial attention later

Pause Points (Check-In Protocol)

Are we maintaining relationship with our intent?
What's emerging that we didn't anticipate?
Do agents need recalibration to preserve coherence?

Post-Production Processing

Narrative Cluster Processing

Run transcriptions through cluster analysis
Identify thematic structures, implied meanings, story spine
Generate editing brief with agent-supported markers

Quality Enforcement Review

Validate outputs against storyteller-coherence criteria
Flag segments requiring human review or revision
Ensure relational protocols maintained throughout

Closure Ceremony (After Session)

Reflection (10 minutes)

What knowledge emerged through this relationship?
How did technology serve (or hinder) ceremonial intention?
What needs to be honored before moving forward?

Agent Memory Update

What contextual signatures should persist into future sessions?
What ceremonial boundaries were discovered/refined today?
What should agents remember about this collaboration?

Acknowledge all relationships that made this work possible
Release material into next phase with blessing
Document what must be carried forward

Why This Matters

Technology alone cannot ensure relational accountability — ceremony provides the structure through which tools serve relationship rather than extracting from it. This protocol relates multi-agent systems to Indigenous research methodologies.
